One of a series of dune studies inspired by trips to Northumberland and Cornwall. I am fascinated by the transition layers between the tightly-knit dune grass roots and the leaching textures created as rivulets of salt sea water and rain create vertical channels interacting with the sand.

Mixed media: Charcoal powder, willow charcoal, liquid charcoal, conté, acrylic on A3 250gsm acid free paper.

I like to keep the page ‘eyelets’ ripped from the pad to enhance the fact it is a one-off drawing and not a print - the way I float mount the work enhances the undulations of the paper.
