My Story

Born and raised in Dorset, I specialize in creating bold, gestural landscape paintings and charcoal drawings. My artistic journey developed during a visit to Northumberland in the early 90s, where the solitude of recording vast horizons, expansive skies, and mysterious woodlands - combined with my love of folklore, profoundly inspired me, setting me on my way to connect with our land through my art.

I developed my style through observing the countryside while walking, forging emotional connections with the land recording the balance of quiet spaces mixed with frenetic energy. This approach is reflected in my use of 'impasto' technique on canvas, which blends vibrant colours with fluidity, as well as in my charcoal drawings, where I employ graphic, photo-real mark-making.

My art is a result of immersive experiences in nature, where I've cultivated emotional connections with the landscape. Notably, one of my commissions drew the attention of TV personality Kate Humble, resulting in a collaboration for her book “Thinking On My Feet” (published in 2018 by Octopus Publishing Group). I was privileged to contribute the book's cover, endpapers, and inside plates, marking a milestone in my artistic journey.
