Why buy art?

As a landscape artist who regularly exhibits in Art Fairs, I’m lucky enough to chat to many art lovers and buyers. Although we talk about many things, there are usually discussions and an inner turmoil relating to the ‘should I?’, or ‘can I afford to?’ in buying a particular work of art. I believe there are many compelling reasons why an art lover should purchase art, on which I’ve made some notes below. Perhaps some of these points chime with you enough to help make that decision.

Supporting artists: Buying artwork directly supports artists, allowing us to continue pursuing our passion and creating beautiful works of art. Art collectors who value the arts understand the importance of investing in artists and contributing to the cultural landscape. And believe me, it’s ALWAYS appreciated.

Enhancing your space: Art has the ability to transform and enhance your environment. Whether displayed in a living room, office, or public space, art creates a sense of harmony, warmth, and tranquility, enriching and inspiring the owner. If you like the art, you’ll find a way to make it work in your space!

Investment potential: Many times I have been complimented with “I should have bought from you years ago when you were more affordable.” If you see something you like ‘now’, don’t put that purchase off as you’ll always regret it (as I have with at least ten artists I could list and should have bought 5 years ago). If you like it now, you’re always going to like it. Art collectors recognize the investment potential of acquiring original artwork from talented artists. As an artist’s reputation grows, buyers have the opportunity to not only own and enjoy an art work for years, they also potentially see an increase in the value of their investment over time.

Unique perspective: Every artist has their style and motivation. I’d like to think my art offers a unique perspective on nature, showcasing the beauty and wisdom of trees, woodlands and seascapes through my own artistic vision. Buyers are drawn to this originality and creativity.

Emotional connection: Trees and woodlands often evoke a sense of nostalgia, serenity, and connection to nature in viewers. Through art fairs I know that my paintings and charcoal drawings evoke these emotions, providing buyers with an emotional connection every time they see my artwork.

Quality: My dedication is evident in the attention to detail, brushwork, and technique demonstrated in each piece.

Bringing nature indoors: Many art buyers seek to bring the beauty of the outdoors into their homes or workspaces. My paintings are windows to the natural world, allowing buyers to find a solace in my landscapes. The subject matter of landscapes, trees and woodlands is timeless, and remains relevant for years to come.
